Family Promise
We partner with an organization in Grand Rapids, MI called Family Promise. They are a national organization trying to help families find housing. We began serving with them in 2022 as part of their Interfaith Hospitality Network. 4 times a year we host 3-5 families in our church building. These families stay with us for a week each time. We provide a safe place to stay and meals for the week. They stay overnight with us, but during the day they are at school, work, or the Family Promise Day Center. We believe that God has called us to show hospitality to those in our community, especially those who are the most vulnerable. Learn more at www.familypromisegr.org.
Hand 2 Hand
During the school year, we work with Hand 2 Hand to make sure that kids have food. We drop off food each week for students to have the nutrition they need on the weekend when they cannot access school lunch programs. We believe that God has called us to feed the hungry in anyway we can. Learn more at www.h2hkids.org.
Elementary School Outreach
What would it look like if a church adopted a school? Teachers, students, families, anyone in need of help? We dreamt it and were able to adopt a local public school. We are able to work with the teachers to make sure that they have the supplies they need. We are able to work with the students to make sure they have hygiene items and warm clothing for the winter months. During Christmas, we have an giving tree in our church lobby filled with tags indicating a need and our church members provide Christmas gifts for the families. We are also on-call for any needs that arise.
What would it look like if a church adopted a school? Like the kingdom of God at work!
Hospital Equipment Ministry
For many years, Fairway has had a medical equipment ministry. We work with Love Your Neighbor to drop off medical equipment in our community. We store hospital beds, lift chairs, wheel chairs for people in need. We also drop them off as they are needed. Learn more at www.lovewm.org.
Thanksgiving @ Mel Trotter
On Thanksgiving, started in 2021, we volunteer to help serve a meal at Mel Trotter. We sign up as table hosts or parking attendant and help brighten those who come to the community meal at the DeVos Place. Learn more at www.meltrotter.org.
