Fairway Church has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Kids Hope USA program since 2006. We are partnered with Grandville’s West Elementary where mentors from our congregation meet one on one with a child from West for 1 hour a week. Kids Hope USA was founded in 1995 by Virgil Gulker in Holland, MI. He asked a very important question: How can churches have the greatest impact on America’s at-risk children? His answer was one on one relationships with caring adults. The motto for Kids Hope USA is One Child. One hour. One church. One school. Since 2006 we have been blessed to mentor over 120 students. The impact a caring, reliable relationship can make in a student’s life can scarcely be measured, but each year we see dramatic improvement in the grades, social development, and emotional development of the students in the Kids Hope program. The joy on a child’s face when someone shows up just for them can’t be accurately described. You’ll have to find out for yourself!
